POMEROY, Oh (WTAP) - POMEROY, Ohio — A structure fire on flatwoods rd. in Pomeroy was extinguished after firefighters from the Bashan and Chester Volunteer Fire Departments responded, Meigs County Dispatch confirmed.

The Monday evening fire on Viking Drive involved a downed high-voltage transmission line, windy conditions and toxic smoke, according to the Fire Department.

Power strips sold on Amazon are being recalled because they may pose an injury or fire hazard. Hefei Juyuan Sporting Development Co. recalled 11,200 power strips after receiving seven reports of the products blowing a fuse, but no fires or injuries have been reported.

No injuries were reported following a massive fire that fully engulfed a home in Georgetown on Christmas Day, the Georgetown Fire Department reported.

Authorities said the alarm was raised at 9:24 a.m. for a fire on the first floor and in the basement of 1013 Warren St., located between Lenox Avenue and Schuyler Street. Responding firefighters launched an attack and battled the flames as they spread to the second floor.

An early Friday morning fire at a Bentonville motel prompted emergency response, but no one was injured in the incident.
