Interfaith concert looks to reclaim Jan. 6 as day of unity, five years after Capitol riots
WASHINGTON (RNS) — One block from the U.S. Capitol, at Lutheran Church of the Reformation, an interfaith crowd of D.C. community members gathered Tuesday (Jan. 6) for a night of music and remembrance five years after the Capitol riots.
At least 11 people from the Jacksonville area were charged in connection with the riot. After being sworn into office again in 2025, Trump pardoned individuals involved in the riot. Those pardoned included individuals who were serving prison sentences, had been recently sentenced, or were facing charges.
The Senate has agreed to display a plaque honoring the police who defended the Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 attack.
