Dumpling was one of the 13 sloths rescued from unopened attraction Sloth World and transferred to the Central Florida Zoo.
Sloth World, a new attraction on Orlando’s I-Drive that was announced last year, imported dozens of the South American mammals, several of which are now dead.
Another sloth joins the dozens who have died ahead of the opening of Sloth World in Orlando. Sloth World was supposed to open as an attraction on International Drive. That is not happening now, after it was learned that 31 sloths intended for the attraction had died between December of 2024 and February of last year.
"Looking at a sloth and trying to determine if they are lethargic or not cannot be the easiest," one veterinarian joked
Thirteen sloths in the custody of Sloth World have been transferred to a Florida zoo after the exhibition site closed following mistreatment allegations.
The situation tied to Orlando’s failed “Sloth World” attraction continues to worsen, as another rescued animal has died during rehabilitation efforts.
